The University of British Columbia Schmidt Science Fellowships aim to provide a huge platform to the best aspiring minds all over the world with the ability to contribute to interdisciplinary projects with an effort to leave a lasting impact on the society. All the successful Fellows will be taught how to advance scientific discovery through individualized mentoring and attending international workshops.

Criteria:
• Permanent Resident, Canadian and International candidates are eligible to apply.
• You must be available for the entire period from the July 2023- July 2024, as well as Global Meeting.
• You must possess a graduate degree in Engineering, Computing, Natural Sciences (Earth Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Biology as well as Neurobiology).
• You must complete a Ph.D. or expected to be completed between 1st June 2022 to 30 July 2023. ( Ph.D. has to be done from UBC).
Benefits:
• The selected applicants are offered a stipend of $100,000 to support their full-time postdoctoral study.
Selection Process:
• Each department will submit its nominations.
• The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies will convene a committee to review the nominations.
•Then, the committee will nominate up to nine students to the international competition.
How to Apply for the Fellowships?
• You must submit your application materials to your graduate program.
• Your application should consist the following:
° Your CV and publications (maximum three pages).
° Your Statement (maximum one page), addressing the following two points:
* Alignment with the Schmidt Fellows program – interest in pursuing a year or more of postdoctoral study in a field different from the topic of study for which the nominee received his/her doctorate
* Collaborative spirit – demonstrated history of effective collaboration with diverse team members.
° Your Proposal (maximum two pages), addressing the following two points:
* Potential postdoctoral research direction.
* Brief rationale for up to three potential postdoctoral Fellowship labs.
